Military families

The burdens military families bear are great. Even if there is no deployment, field exercise or military school on the horizon, at some point there will be a looming PCS you don’t have orders for yet, the birth of a child, the death of a family member, the loss of a pet, health struggles, leaving a job or looking for a new one…or any other psychosocial stressor on top of the already demanding military lifestyle. The sacrifices are so familiar and yet the stress adds up and impacts our emotional wellness.

I have personally lived through separations, PCS moves and deployments. I have participated in family readiness programs as a partner and supported military families as a social worker. I completed a masters-level military social work sub-concentration at USC. I have worked for a VA program and served veterans and their families on hospice care. I have advocated for families navigating domestic violence resources and veterans working to heal from combat trauma. It is my honor to offer military families a space to be understood and supported without judgment.
